Which of these prom dresses? I've always bought cheap dresses from Ross and Marshalls for homecoming and winter ball the past few years of high school, and now that I'm of age my parents have opted to purchase my prom dress regardless of the price (though nothing ridiculous for their sake). I know it's pretty early to be prom shopping but I want to make a purchase before I'm FORCED to get a dress from Ross/Marshalls... Not that it's horrible to buy cheap dresses, but I want to look amazing for prom. :/ I have these few selected, going to share that I plan on wearing my hair down (my hair is red, also), I have light yellow-tinted skin (I'm Asian), I'm 5'10" and plan on wearing heels (my boyfriend is 6'4", so it's okay), am in between average and skinny, and I have a chest, if those were any concerns. Why do musicians dress so bad? If you compare the Globe's, or the Oscar's red carpets, people look so good! But, in the Grammys the dresses (specially the girls) looked awfully bad. Why?

The lounge couldn't have been more breathtakingly beautiful. Tom and Sophie's wedding reception was held at Clearwater House, a lush ballroom in Mount Springs where a number of weddings and other social events were held. Sophie's mom opted for a lush, romantic outdoor scenery. Cherry Blossoms circled the lofty garden with silk draperies entwined thru their trunks. Mossy vines cascaded the roof and columns of the gazebo. Past the falling blossoms was an immense lake - silver stretching under the moonlight. "Having fun?" whispered an unmistakable voice from behind me Michael's warm fingers filled the spaces between mine. Standing over six feet tall, with wide set shoulders and dressed in black on black suite and tie, Michael looked like he was ready to walk down the red carpet on Oscar night. He had been looking forward to this evening for weeks now. Our first formal dress up date although our friends and family had already grown so used to our duet this past year. We were inseparable. Joined by hip. He handed me a dry martini, as he pulled me close to his side. "It sure is something." I nodded. He rubbed my arm from shoulder to elbow twice and paused. "Are you cold? Your arm is covered in goose bumps!" I wore a long emerald silk chiffon dress with delicate spaghetti straps. Its neckline gathered elegantly across my chest and plunged deeply to the small of my back. My hair hung with loose waves. I was out of my element. Just the thought of the cozy warmth of my tattered sweat pants and time-worn tee waiting for me back home sent a small wave of impatience through me. "I'm fine. Just wanted to step out for a moment and get some fresh air". The reception hall featured a huge deck to allow room for dancing. It was even more romantically adorned than the garden. Flowery vines dripped from all around the roofing and the stage held a miniature orchestra consisting of violins, cellos and a few more musical instruments. On the corner, right before the stage, was a beautiful mahogany grand piano, covered in petals. "You look amazing, by the way. Almost put the poor bride to shame" Michael whispered in my ear. I could feel his warm breath wash over the right side of my face, and the heat from his arm spread along my back, down to my waist where it rested. This was definitely better than the thought of my sweats waiting for me at home. I nudged his ribs playfully as he mocked painfully. He looked irresistibly handsome tonight. Meri, Jay, Alexa and Ryan all stepped down from the deck to join us. We exchanged polite hugs and kisses and then subtly divided into to two groups, the men off to one side. "OH MY GOD! Everything else went silent around me, although I was sure I could clearly see people in my peripheral vision laughing and sharing toasts.....weren't the champagne glasses making that clinking sound just a minute ago? The only other thing I could hear was my heart pounding against my chest. It was then I realized that nothing around me had stopped, I was the only one rendered immobile. What would be the best costume to have, I thought of maybe air stewardess, secretary or like someone on a red carpet going to the Oscars. Yo guys, ok so yu know how celebrities go to openings of new hang out spots and awards? thats how my party's gonna be, the theme is gonna be a mix between exclusive nightclub/ night at the oscars you know the red carpet thing.The parties gonna be in my backyard which is very big with tents , tables and chairs decorated hollywood style. A red carpet will lead from the back entrance of my house out to the yard which will be decorated to look like the hottest night club, while the guest are walking down the carpet theyre gonna be greeted by their fans with their autograph books their own entrance music and the paparazzi with their cameras flashing lighting the way into the party. while the guest are signing autographs for their fans the fashion reporters (two of my friends) are gonna be talking about what everybodys wearing , how they look and see if they have that red carpet flare When it starts to go dark the awards are given out for best dressed, best dancer, and for the best red carpet attitude. And each of the guest will be given their own personalized drinking glasses for the toast to the stars (thats us) The whole things gonna be recorded on video and there will be glowsticks whats a party without them lol. party attire? im going to an oscar party and it says "come as your favorite character from a movie or dressed up as your favorite actor on the red carpet" the first part would mean as a movie character but would the second part mean or as an actor in normal clothes on the carpet?because that would mean just a suit/tux right?

How does this decorating scheme sound for my wedding reception? We are decorating with a movie/Hollywood theme. Note: Nobody is dressing up or doing anything out of the ordinary, really, for a wedding. We are just decorating with something besides paper bells and paper doves. Anyway, when guests walk in they will step on a red carpet. My sister created a "Walk of Fame" with Hollywood looking starts with bridal parties names on them. We will also have a giant inflatable Oscar looking statue when guests walk in. Guests will stop at a table where they will "autograph" a movie banner that we have custom made that will hang in our movie theater themed basement. They will choose their own seat at tables decorated with black and red. Centerpeices will be red and white flowers with black ribbons and stars with popcorn favors in red and black bags. Decorating we will use movie memobrilla, red and black streamers and lots of red and black baloons. (We love balloons). Any suggestions? Alissa, Yep, its certain that we want free seating. We are planning on having extra tables so people can spread out mroe if they wish. It's a big hall. Amanda and everybody else- So, you think the Oscar statue is tacky? Hmmmm I really thought it was a neat effect. I'll think about taking it out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Aren’t you glad you’re not a famous rich actor/actress, going to the Oscars, because you’ve been nominated? Especially women…they have to wear very tight and uncomfortable designer dresses in which they can barely walk, breathe or sit down. Add the high heels to that. I’d like to see how they handle peeing in public toilets in those. They usually don’t even own the dress, it was lent to them because they’re walking advertising but they have to name the designer in any interview. Any journalist on the red carpet will ask “what are you wearing?” It’s not like anybody care but it’s a requirement. The famous actress gets to wear the dress that she does not have to buy…but she has to say the designer’s name. The journalist will have to ask the question about the designer, so the actress can say the name of the designer, otherwise she would not answer any questions from the journalist and just waive and move on. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Then they have to wear those heavy, “this is the price of a house” cold stones around their neck and pulling down on their ear lobes. They don’t even own those jewels; it was lent to them because they’re walking advertising (then the jeweler has to go to court when celebrities’ personal assistant “forget” to return the borrowed jewels, ha-ha). They have to do all that while smiling a fake smile with fake white teeth, and looking a little too happy while wondering why oh why do I subject myself to this? Having money but wearing things I don’t even own…then, they remember…they got into this business for fame, fortune and adulation…none of those are easy. Then everybody will notice that they either lost too much weight or gained too much weight. Then whatever they look like, some people will criticize their fashion sense, in magazines, trash papers, online… Men will be judged by their arm candies. If she’s an unknown, sexy and half his age…then he’s a loser and she’s a gold digger. If she’s not sexy, even nice and classy, and she’s as old as him, because she’s his soul mate, then people will think “gosh, he could do better than that!”

As a guest, what should I wear to this wedding? Okay. I am going to a friend's (of the bride) wedding on June 14th @ 2pm in the afternoon. The ceremony is going to last about 2 and a half hours and then afterwards the reception in the late afternoon to early evening hours. I am having a hard time trying to figure out the type of dress to wear. I don't want to go too formal, but I don't want to go too casual either..The bride is what I would consider "high-maintenance" and I have a feeling her wedding is going to be kind of like a red carpet-ish affair..I know I am not going to dress like I am going to the Oscars because that is a little over the top, but I want to look good..I keep reading that the time of the day that the wedding is taking place is also a factor on what to wear..
