Where can I find a dress that is similar to Anna Kendrick's Oscar gown? [picture!]? I fell in love with this dress & I'm hoping to find one like it for my prom later this year (I know it is very early for this, but I want to get the dress asap & be done with that whole thing!).I love the neckline & the blush color is so pretty, especially since I have very fair skin, darker hair, & blue eyes, so I think it would be a pretty combination. where can i find a cheaper version of renee zellweger's red 2003 oscar gown? a lot of prom retailers had a version of the dress for sale a couple of years ago, but i have yet to find it lately, any information on a retailer or boutique where i might find one would be greatly appreciated. it is the red one with a deep front cut that's semi-sheer, it's form-fitting, and has somewhat of a train in back.
Where can I sell my dress? The dress is unfit for me? I bought this dress, http://www.dhgate.com/elegant-dress-ball-gown-oscar-dresses-glamorous/p-ff808081250bd01a01255341f23b12d6.html . It is a little small, the seller said I can return it for exchange, but it takes time, I need this dress for a wedding next week, now, I want to sell this dress, who knows where I can sell this dress?
Does anyone know of a less expensive version of Jenna Bush's Oscar de la Renta wedding gown? Or a gown with a similar texture and shape to it? I love that it seems to hug her curves, but not reveal every little detail of the bumps along the way. And I love the texture of the lace! I just don't want to pay an arm and a leg! ($300 budget for dress)
Does anyone have tips for an Oscar-winner costume for a preteen? My daughter is in seventh grade, but a little short for her age. She has the idea of going as an Oscar winner, holding a fake Oscar and have a long gown with dripping mascara, as though she were crying. Any tips on how I can make a decent costume for her? I need a good dress and maybe a wig. Share your ideas! We want to be over the top. Thank you!
Where can I find a dress very similar to Angelina Jolie's Oscar dress? EXCEPT i want it shorter. i'm looking for my prom dress. :] but there's no way I am going to wear a gown to prom. and i really, really want jewelery similar to hers too! ;] http://www.sawf.org/Newsphotos/Hollywood/Angelina_Jolie_Oscars_22Feb2009_B.jpg
Which of these two dresses, in your opinion, would look good on a short bride? The bride (my friend) is 4'11". She isn't super skinny nor big - sort of average. More on the slim side, I guess. Anyway, she's torn between these two dresses, and to tell you the truth, so am I. First dress: http://www.beebuyer.com/product/80467-2011-Style-The-81st-Oscar-Penelope-Cruz-Ball-Gown-Sweetheart-Court-Train-Evening-Dress-ballgownwd0012- Second dress: http://www.beebuyer.com/product/80350-Modest-vera-wang-Strapless-Chapel-Train-Wedding-dresses-Ball-Gown-ballgownwd0090- Any opinion would be lovely, but it would be even nicer if you provide a reason for your choice. Thank you!
What Could I Buy An Elegant Evening Gown Online? I'm looking for a dress that is Oscar worthy, something Halle Berry would be proud to wear. Also, I would like something flowy and long and a detailed bust area. If you could find something like this, it would absolutely AMAZING!!!!
i need an oscar dress for my party under £30? i need a prefrably long gown that is cheap but look deginer at the same time
Help with Oscar de la Renta dress? I am having trouble deciding between a vintage c. 1962 Givenchy gown and my Oscar de la Renta. Both are beautiful, but I don't know if the OLR is too casual. Which sounds more impressive going by the description ALONE? I am not going to bother with pics. I just want to know what SOUNDS better. Spank you very much!
Which of these prom dresses? I've always bought cheap dresses from Ross and Marshalls for homecoming and winter ball the past few years of high school, and now that I'm of age my parents have opted to purchase my prom dress regardless of the price (though nothing ridiculous for their sake). I know it's pretty early to be prom shopping but I want to make a purchase before I'm FORCED to get a dress from Ross/Marshalls... Not that it's horrible to buy cheap dresses, but I want to look amazing for prom. :/ I have these few selected, going to share that I plan on wearing my hair down (my hair is red, also), I have light yellow-tinted skin (I'm Asian), I'm 5'10" and plan on wearing heels (my boyfriend is 6'4", so it's okay), am in between average and skinny, and I have a chest, if those were any concerns. Basically right now I'm torn between looking like a classy princess-red carpet thing or going for more of a devilish/sexy (but not trashy) look. Soooo, here are dresses and some light commentary. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD592740 I really like this in the tannish color (the default one) but the material seems cheap and the dress seems like something I could find at Dillards. I like the rouched front, dislike the bottom hemline: I feel like it'd be stiff. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD586441 Love the Sherri Hill dresses. This one's beautiful but feels a bit plain, and limited on colors. If I decided on this I wouldn't know which color to get... But I'm leaning toward blue. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD638866 It's sparkly, but to me it puts off more of a glam vibe than tacky so I like it. But who knows, it could really just be super tacky in person. Maybe I just like it on the model. http://www.unique-vintage.com/preorder2011-faviana-prom-dresses-demi-moore-oscar-inspired-melon-ruffle-strapless-prom-gown-p-9768.html I showed this to a few friends and they said this is their favorite. I like it (in the pink/"melon") but don't know if it'd make me look wider, which layered/tiered dresses tend to do. But damn it's pretty. http://www.unique-vintage.com/terani-prom-silver-waterfall-long-evening-gown-size-p-8266.html This was favorite #2 among my friends; it's very mature and classy, and moderately sexy with that leg slit thing. I'm not too sold on the material though. http://www.unique-vintage.com/dusty-rose-raja-ombre-silk-chiffon-prom-dress-p-7141.html Reminds me of that pink/blue dress from earlier, though I wish this one were longer and I guess thicker-seeming? Well I dunno. I think the ombre looks good though. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD637236 This is lovely, except for the price tag. I have a feeling it's a little too extravagant for my school's prom though. But it's so sparkly... http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD398214 In the turquoise-gold (the default one). Reminds me of a mermaid. A Hollywood mermaid. Pick your favorite. Or just screw picking and show me an awesome dress similar to those.
About how much was Jenna Bush's Oscar de la Renta wedding gown? http://www.google.com.br/imgres?imgurl=http://www.shoppingblog.com/pics/jennabush_weddingdress.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.shoppingblog.com/blog/511081&usg=__US95RGn6Fu9Lez6Giv26N9kYKmI=&h=550&w=292&sz=108&hl=pt-br&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=CNUJ2uxH3vYyvM:&tbnh=139&tbnw=69&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djenna%2Bbush%2Boscar%2Bde%2Bla%2Brenta%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dpt-br%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:pt-B This is the dress I'm talking about. Well, I fell in love with it, does anyone know how much it costs?
Should I change dresses between wedding ceremony and reception (I'm a guest)? I'm going to a black tie wedding and got a very fancy gown (something one might wear to the Oscars) for the event, which is at the Ritz Hotel. However, I just realized that the ceremony is at a church, and not only do I now have to worry about the proper coat (it's on the East Coast) to put over my dress, I'm wondering if it's not too fancy of a gown for a daytime church wedding. Do I wear one thing to the wedding and the nice gown to the reception? What's the etiquette?
Evening Gown For A White Tie Affair, Online Please? I'm looking for a dress that is Oscar worthy, something Halle Berry would be proud to wear. Also, I would like something flowy and long and a detailed bust area. If you could find something like this, it would absolutely AMAZING!!!!
Who do you think is the best dressed actor/actress during the Oscars? Best dressed: Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive and Natalie Portman in a lilac Rodarte gown. Worst dressed: Beyonce in House of Dereon
How should I do my eye makeup for prom? Amethyst colored gown in satin. I was thinking of a Natalie portman 2009 oscar makeup, but her dress was a lot lighter in color would it work for my dress (amethyst)? Im oriental by the way. with medium skin..i just spent the whole day outside.
How can I find and purchase dior dress seen at the 2005 oscars? I saw a Christian Dior dress at the 2005 Oscars, worn by Gisele Bundchen. It was a empire waist white flowing gown, and I want to get married wearing something just like that. How do I even go about finding that dress? Or one like it?
what accessories would u wear with a grey satin ball gown? i have bought a dark grey pretty satin full length bal gown/evening dress for a big party next week. it reaches the floor and is a strapless basque style top half and puff satin bottom half..(like a wedding dress!!) it gorgeous but im not sure how to accessories... shoes arent a proba s cant really see them, but should my neck be bare like all the ladies at the oscars? what colours u think will go with grey? i have blue eyes and short chin length brown hair thank you in advance :-) what style handbag please too?
Michelle Obama's inaugural dresses? I asked for opinions on her yellowish-greenish-pukish colored dress this morning, but what do you think about her inaugural ball dress? http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/beauty/countdown-to-the-gown-live-blogging-michelle-obama-s-inaugural-style-the-gown-is-by-jason-wu-354416/ It reminds me a lot of the Swan dress Bjork wore to the Oscars: http://images.teamsugar.com/files/usr/0/3987/bjo.jpg Nothing she wears flatters her at all and all I hear about is how stylish she is. Jackie Kennedy she is not! She could do so much better! What are your thoughts? (And I know this has nothing to do with her as as person. That's not what I'm addressing here, so no angry comments concerning that please) I do agree that Mrs. Biden's was ugly too. Looked like a 17-year-old girl should've been wearing it, especially the boots.
Oscars themed Sweet 16 dress ideas? My Sweet 16 is in the summer, it's going to be in a Hollywood club and the theme is the Oscars. Have you any dress suggestions? Dresses like this: http://www.preciousformals.com/posh_precious/view/o20712.html?sil=ball_gown&p=7 Basically just pretty dresses or gowns, preferably blue, turquoise, green or purple, or black. I love anything sparkly :) This dress is one of my options, I just like to have a few to choose from. I don't have a budget, so the cost doesn't matter :) Thank you!:) Rachel x
The Oscar's: Who's dress did you love and who's - not so much? I love Beyonce's and J Lo's...........not so much - Jennifer Hudson's (why would anyone put pockets on an evening gown) and Anne Hathaway (that big black bow as hidious)
Moviefone AOL's Academy Awards website actually listed Diablo Cody in the best dressed list, WHAT? http://movies.aol.com/oscars-academy-awards/photos/best-dressed In the worst dressed section, there are scores of actresses in classy dresses, but Diablo Cody wears a stripper gown and gets best dressed? Just like the Oscars, these people who judge fashion have no taste. Go to hell, I'm never turning this trash on again.
I am IN LOVE with this dress.....would it work as a wedding gown? http://www.sugarslam.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/miley-cyrus-2009-oscars-09.jpg I love the cut, the elegance the style, EVERYTHING about this dress. the belt would be plain
My Perfect Prom Dress, CAN IT BE FOUND?!? Now I have this idea for my perfect prom outfit/dress but I can NOT find it! I want something like this top part: http://www.lightinthebox.com/Lea-Michele-Ball-Gown-Sweetheart-Floor-length-Sleeveless-Satin--Tulle-Golden-Globe--Prom-Dress--FSM0571-_p87321.html The skirt part of this dress (JUST THE SKIRT): http://www.lightinthebox.com/Miley-Cyrus-A-line-Sweetheart-Floor-length-Sleeveless-Tulle-Oscar--Evening-Dress--FSM0654-_p92795.html And this length (tea or knee length): http://www.cargoclothing.com/shop/detail.aspx?pid=1946 And I really want Black. Any help with finding my absolute DREAM dress would be unbelievably amazing! :D
List of designer wedding dresses Carrie Bradshaw tries on in SATC the movie? During the Vogue photo shoot when Carrie tries on all those different wedding gowns, what designer's name does she say right before Dior? I know the order goes in the sequence below, but I can't figure out what she says and I've watched the movie too many times to count. Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Christian Lacroix, ______, Dior, Oscar De La Renta, and Vivienne Westwood. It sounds like "live-ren" but it's really muffled and it's driving me crazy! :) Thanks!
What is the dress code for attending an event at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater? It's a tribute to Mel Brooks. Formal gown? Step above 'business casual'? There isn't anything on their web site. http://www.oscars.org/events-exhibitions/venues-ticketing/goldwyn.html
oscars worst and best dressed? Women best dressed: Miley Cyrus- http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/image-library/port/333/m/miley-cyrus-oscars.jpg i LOVED her valentino gown gorgeous! she looked chic and mature! heidi klum- http://movies.aol.com/oscars-academy-awards/photos/best-dressed SHE LOOKED STUNNING IN DIOR!(: Katherine heigl looked great too! i loved her hair! it was like a old fashioned look and her escada dress was ahhmazzinngg! http://fabsugar.com/1069758 worst dressed: Tilda swinton- EW her dress hid her figure and was just atrocious! horrible choice. http://www.osoblog.tv/tildaswinton.jpg Nicole kidman- It's kind of an awkward length like someone accidentally hemmed it just an inch too short and the shoes werent really "oscar fashion". Anyone know where I could (specifically) get a dress similar to this? http://www.axparis.co.uk/upload/340w/DW396CORALF.jpg http://www3.images.coolspotters.com/photos/518629/lea-michele-and-oscar-de-la-renta-spring-2011-rtw-pink-gown-gallery.jpg I love that first dress but on that website it's not available in my size ): If anyone knows of any dresses online similar, that would be awesome!
Is a trunk show cheaper than normal designer prices? I fell in love with an Oscar de la Renta dress but it's out of my price range. After receiving many tips on how to get a less expensive version, I figured it would be good to see the gown again in person before trying to get someone to make it. Maybe I could even take my own pictures of it. Anyways, I found a bridal salon about 90 minutes from my house that is having a trunk show for Oscar de la Renta gowns in less than a month! Does that mean it's any less expensive though? Is a trunk show and a sample sale the same thing? I'm really new to all of this and I don't really know what I'm doing, but any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!
Help me find a prom dress? I need a prom dress, but i absolutely HATE the typical prom dresses that are "in-style" now, like the satin-y shiny looking dresses with cutouts and beads and crap. its ugly. i want something classy, like a gown thats really pretty. I LOVE miley cyrus's dress from the oscars this year, something like that i just need somewhere i can find dresses of that caliber. I love BCBGMaxazria, but they are very expensive and there arent very many to choose from. I want a cream colored strapless floor length gown. can someone help?
Coming out as a crossdresser in a large condo building? I bought a condo unit in a 6-story 35-unit building about 20 years ago. I am a serious 66 year-old crossdresser, but have never left my unit crossdressed. Most of the residents know my regular male self. As a man, I am not effeminate and am just a normal guy of average masculinity. I now have the need to express my feminine side more frequently and completely. I am considering just coming and going to my unit completely dressed and made-up as a woman a few times a month. I like to wear very feminine classy dresses and skirt/blouse sets, 3” heel dress pumps (even though I'm 6'1” in bare feet), and occasionally very dressy cocktail dresses or even long formal "Oscar Night" evening gowns. Whether I take the elevator from my 6th floor apartment or the stairs, I will always be getting into or out of my car in its reserved parking spot, and all the residents know my car. I'm OK with being seen crossdressed by almost all the residents. However, there is one apartment on my floor inhabited by ultra-macho, hard-drinking, coarse, misogynistic, homophobic guys. I certainly don't want to be seen presenting as a woman to these guys. If they were drunk and in a group, it could be dangerous for me. Fortunately, I should be able to spot them first and avoid them when I leave or return to my unit. Sorry for the very long explanation, but I wanted to describe my situation as good as possible. So, here's my question: Have any of you other crossdressers lived in a large apartment/condo building and freely come and gone crossdressed. What kind of reactions did you get? Any problems? I welcome all crossdressers' experiences, but would be especially interested in those from CDs who started coming and going crossdressed a few years after they moved into the building. Thanks.
What is my style....? - My favourite colours are pink, beige, mint green and baby blue - My favourite shops are Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Morgan De Toi and The Kooples - I love ballet flats and gladiator sandals - My favourite designers are: Chloe (I love the blouses), Diane Von Frustenberg and Oscar de la Renta (the dresses are so beautiful and elegant) - but they are all pretty expensive :( - I love long ball gowns, knee length pencil dresses, pearls, diamonds, boleros, silk/chiffon blouses, neutral coloured trousers and cardigans - I hate mini dresses, mini skirts, sleeveless dresses, boob tube dresses and tight clothing (bodycon) These are examples of clothes that I love: http://cache.net-a-porter.com/images/products/161380/161380_ou_dl.jpg http://cdn11.my-wardrobe.com/images/products/1/3/139829/p1_139829.jpg http://media.topshop.com/wcsstore/TopShop/images/catalog/13G03YCRM_large.jpg http://media.topshop.com/wcsstore/TopShop/images/catalog/62C83YPCH_large.jpg http://www.styleceo.com/images/stores/1014/d/delman-mona-patent-flat-cream-6991778 Thanks P.S. I meant that I would like that 1st dress but in a different colour like beige or light pink....
Is there any dress code for...? does Oscar awards have a dress code or something? do the ladies always need to wear a long gown??

Help! What should I wear to the oscars tomorrow night? I have a cute knee length dress which is darling, but I'm not sure if that's what guests can wear. I don't want to be too pretentious by wearing a floor length gown when I'm not going to be anywhere near the front, but I don't want to look underdressed.
Has anyone ever ordered a dress from Light In The Box? I decided to order my prom dress from LITB: http://www.lightinthebox.com/The-81st-Oscar-Natalie-Portman-A-line-Sweetheart-Chiffon-Evening-Dress--OSC014-_p46161.html Just wondering if anyone bought a dress from there? I'm sooo skeptical being as there's no picture of the actual dress THEY make, just the Rodarte gown Natalie wore. Did anyone order a pink gown- if so did the color match the swatch on the computer? Please shed some light on this, only if you bought and received one though. thank you!
If my left tonsil somehow made its way out of my mouth...? and went to the Oscars as Woody Allens date, dressed in a scarlet red Valentino gown, and Bvulgari jewellery, what do you think Barbara Streisand would think???
What you think of this story I wrote? It was Halloween and I had the perfect costume to wear to my cousin Is's party. I was going as Ziggy Stardust. My hair tonight was a bright orange wig, I had on white makeup with colourful streaks down my face and lipstick on and a large jewel stuck to my forehead, I had even stolen one of my sister's blue contact lenses to complete the transformation. I took the seven bus to my cousin's party space where he was having the party. My cousin has me constantly switching back and fourth between She and He, because Is is a Drag Queen, for family and mutual friends I use she, for people I don't know well I use he. “Alice!! You look amazing!!” said Is the moment I walked through the door. She rushed through the crowd of people, grabbed me by the shoulders and hugged me tight. “What are you suppose to be Issy?” I asked grinning and looking around. “ Isn't it obvious?” she sucked her teeth as though I should have known what she was, “I'm Glinda.” she said turning around to show off her pink chiffon gown, silver tiara and long wavy platinum wig that somehow looked stunning with her hazel nut skin tone. “Oh.” was all I could say. “Your supposed to be that Ziggy Starman or whatever right?” she asked, motioning for me to follow her. “Ziggy Stardust, yeah.” I said as I squeezed between people in all kinds of costumes in colours I was sure only existed in the minds of people who did acid, a person as Dorothy here, a person as Oscar Wilde (or are they suppose to be Stephen Fry?) there, I squeezed through the crowd following Is but somewhere along the line I lost her. I kept trying to spot her and squeezing between people to get to who I thought was her but I couldn't find her. 'I am so going to murder you Is. I'm going to cleave your head in with your own high heels.' I finally managed to reach one of the staircase to the hall's balcony. Ashes to ashes played in the background. “Hi!” said the voice of some girl I didn't see right away. I looked around and finally I found her hiding outside. She was in a Star Trek Next Generation uniform shirt with a pair of ripped-knee jeans, round purple sunglasses and despite how cold it was she had no shoes on. “ Ziggy Stardust I take it?” It took me a second for what she was asking to register. “Erm... Yeah. I'm Ziggy Stardust, what are you suppose to be? A 24th century hippie or something?” “No. If I was being that I'd be dresses as a Vulcan in a tie-dye shirt. I'm Major Tom.” she said grinning and crinkling her nose slightly. I smiled back and offered her a cigarette. She held up a joint and shook her head no. “So you like Bowie?” I asked “Adore him. He's one of few men keeping my interest toward men open.” “Bisexual?” She inhaled a bit of her joint. “No. Omnisexual, I'd do Guys, I'd do girls, I'd do pretty much anything as long as its sentient and I'm attracted to it. You?” “Lesbian who'd gladly do Bowie. He's the only man I'd do. The Evangelicals want to change my sexuality they have to get him to be my husband. No other man would do. May I have a puff of that?” She handed over the pot cig and I took a puff too. “ Your very pretty you know. Would you like to maybe-” I placed the cigarette in an ashtray and nodded. She moved closer to me and kissed me gently on my lips and down my neck. We were out on the balcony for about forty-five minutes, just having 'fun.' Then we went downstairs and had a few drinks. I woke up the next morning in a beautiful turquoise room in a bed with a canopy of yellow and I was wrapped in a blanket of orange and dressed in a sweatshirt that I didn't own. Sleeping next me was the girl I had spent some time with the night before. I was still tired so I fell back asleep. About three hours late I woke up and she was sitting on the edge of the bed reading. “You had like four margaritas and passed out, so I took you home. I'm Myrtle by the way.” she said, reaching to help be out of bed. “What was your name again?” “Alice.” I said. I was still so tired. “Well Alice, welcome down the rabbit hole.”
Need help finding a prom dress? So I'm going to be looking for a prom dress over in Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, but I don't know where to go. I want something like the champagne gown Miley Cyrus wore on the Red Carpet. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media.onsugar.com/files/2010/03/09/0/192/1922564/414459e1bf5fcd63_Miley-Cyrus-3.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fabsugar.com/Miley-Cyrus-2010-Oscars-7635535&usg=__8rZp0axaFz_HdZ4CCpmeICTbh3M=&h=430&w=550&sz=51&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=pqw3dhWQx4lCwM:&tbnh=149&tbnw=189&ei=rknUTcf1OJPYiAK76_W2Ag&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmiley%2Bcyrus%2Bchampagne%2Bdress%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1277%26bih%3D618%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=242&vpy=260&dur=37&hovh=198&hovw=254&tx=144&ty=96&sqi=2&page=1&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0 If someone could help me that would be great!
why don't Jodie Foster give up the ghost and just come out ? I felt so embarassed for her at the Oscars..here were all these beautiful proud gay wimmin, Elaine and Portia and Melissa and her lady, and here comes Jodie all dressed up in a gown and earrings.. I thought she looked self concious.. and embarrassed like she was possibly concios that everyone was being real except for herself. that word was supposed to be "concious"
What do you think of my writing? I wrote this short story a while ago in a creative writing course, and I would like to hear people's honest opinion on it. So please, tell me what you think about it. It's titled "Why commit matrimony when you can commit murder?" Robed in a gown of the purest, white, her dark hair framed her solemn face like a veil. It fell down her back like a mourning widow's shawl, black and limp. In her tapered moon-pale hands she blindly clutched her bouquet of red roses and baby's breath. She was seated in a cushioned chair in the back of the chapel, hidden behind lacquered doors. Glossed over in a pale pink, her lips were set in a firm line as she stared towards the door. She would not cry on her wedding day; her soul was not pure enough for that. There was a commotion outside the doors: she could hear his arrogant voice announcing that tradition be damned, that he was going to see his bride. The words made her stomach clench with dizzying nausea. He stormed in, eyes matching his suit as he smiled lazily in her direction. His lips formed words as he asked her how she was feeling, if she was nervous to be wed to him. He laughed that charming laugh that never reached his eyes; a promise that he'd have a mistress that they'd both know about and never care about. Her lips responded, reminding him in her dull voice that it was bad luck to see the bride before the vows. He laughed again, telling her not to worry her pretty little head. Then he kissed her fiercely, not out of love, just to taste her lipgloss and muss her hair. He left after that, his casual smile thrown carelessly to her like the ones he gave her bridesmaids. When her maid of honor came to fetch her, her hair was messy and her lipstick was all but gone. Her dress was down the sides, like it had hastily been hiked around her hips for a quick tussle with the groom. It wasn't unexpected and it certainly wasn't the first time he had slept around. She didn't care, really. As she paced down the aisle, she caught the eye of the best man and watched him swel with bigotry. She had slept with him, sheerly out of boredom. He, however, thought that he was going to be her lover, the man she would someday run away with. Let him think. Men weren't the only ones with trysts and lovers. Standing beside her husband to be, she stared steadily into the priest's eyes as he told of their amazing love that united them and the bank accounts of the two most successful business tycoons in the country. Her groom placed the ring on her finer, admiring the money he spent to put the garish jewel on her hand. She slipped the ring onto his hand, white hands lingering as she judged how much stronger his hands seemed. Alcohol would easily fix that. The priest was praying, blessing their business joining matrimony like it wasn't an arranged marriage. She prayed silently for forgiveness, for a steady hand and a brave soul. She'd go to hell for it, but it would be appreciated all the same. He kissed her again at the priest's announcement, hard enough to make the maids giggle and the best man wolf-whistle. Their fathers beamed in the pews, imagining the expansions that could be made to their companies. Their mothers sobbed and sighed over the thoughts of the beautiful grandchildren she would bear them. Her new husband thought about the honeymoon, smirking as he remembered their previous trysts. She ignored them all, silently wishing herself good luck. Parading her down the aisle like a show dog, he laughed as he scooped her up and carried her out the doors. The reception went on flawlessly, people smiling as their wished them well. He grinned and thanked them, slipping his arms around her and trying to kiss her lovingly. They deserved an Oscar for that stunt. Hours later at a private beach home, the honeymoon came, filled with idle passion and his favorite whiskeys. He had told her, laughing from the alcohol, that champagne was for the poor saps who couldn't take it like a real man. Slipping out of her bathrobe, she suggested a midnight swim. He agreed wholeheartedly, staggering against her as he wildly toasted the married life, the committed to adultery life. She led him to the pool, carefully avoiding his bottle of whiskey. He took another swig before diving messily, splashing her with the cold water. She slipped in after him, barely making a ripple as she swam over to him. He held out his arms to her, to embrace her. She kissed his lips, leaving her lipgloss mark on him. Pushing him lightly, her lips twisted in a smile as he fell back. It took him a while to get back up; the alcohol was thicker than the water he swam in. Against she pushed him and again he fell. He struggled vainly, coughing and spluttering. One more time she shoved, and he struggled all the more slowly. Climbing out of the pool, she dunked him for a short while, waiting until he went limp. She released him then,
What do you think of this? I have mid terms coming up, the driver’s test to study for, PLUS I’m supposed be coming up with some cool decorations for the upcoming Winter Solstice dance at school, but instead I’m thinking about shoes. Okay, not shoes exclusively, but just clothes in general. If you wanted to narrow it down even further, an Oscar de la Renta floor length dress that would cling to every curve (hey, this is my day dream, I can pretend to have curves if I want) and sliver stilettos that would peek out from underneath the dress. Ideally I would being wearing this dress while holding the arm of a gorgeous guy in a tux at the Winter Solstice dance, but let’s not get crazy. First off, even if I could afford a dress like the one I was imagining, I wouldn’t even know where to find one. It’s not exactly like they sell couture gowns at JCPennys which is pretty most the most high end place we have. Rural Texas is not exactly a shopping hot spot. Secondly, as student council vice president I am more likely to end up refilling the punch bowl at the dance rather than dancing with hot guys in tuxedos. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a total guy magnet…when they need homework help. And by help I mean hey let me copy off your paper, this assignment’s due in five minutes. But I’m not bitter or anything. Anyway, the Winter Solstice dance was pretty much the dance at our school. The social event to end all social events. Quit laughing, it’s a small school. We have to call it the Winter Solstice dance instead of the Christmas dance because a couple of years ago some kids brought up how they didn’t even celebrate Christmas in their religion, so we just called it the Winter Solstice cause’ that’s about as PC as you can get. And this year I was in charge seeing as I’m the only one with “enough time” (aka: no life) to handle it. But I’m actually somewhat excited about it, since I get to make all the major decisions (theme: winter wonderland. Unoriginal? Yes. Easy to work with? Also yes) and no one really argues with me. But if this story was about a slightly nerdy girl planning a dance, no one would read it, would they? To borrow one of my favorite cliché fairy tale phrases, here’s where it all begins….
What do ya'll think of this? I don't know....something seems off to me, but then again, I'm not really sure. It's a little ehhh, so I'd appreciate any feedback on how to make it better. ----- I have mid terms coming up, the driver’s test to study for, PLUS I’m supposed be coming up with some cool decorations for the upcoming Winter dance at school, but instead I’m thinking about shoes. Could you help me find this dress for prom? +BQ? Hi! My prom is in May, and I'm looking for a dress similar to the one that Hailee Steinfeld wore to the oscars. I love the color, the tea-length, the beading, ALL of it. However, I realize that I probably can't get my hands on a one-of-a-kind Marchesa gown. That's where you come in! I'm willing to bend on colors (I pretty much like them all), but the dress has to be the same silhouette as Hailee's, though I might go a bit shorter (just below my knees). Pictures are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Here's a link to her dress: http://www.parentdish.com/2011/02/27/hailee-steinfeld-oscars-red-carpet/ BQ: What sort of hair/makeup/accessories should I wear? Links and pictures would be great! Thanks again!
Black tie optional? We are planning a "oscar / hollywood" themed wedding (not over the top, but it'll definitely be there). What would you think if, as a guest, you received an invitation that said black tie optional? We would like the guests to dress their best, but don't want to require them to go out and purchase ball gowns. Also, what would you wear if it said dress to impress? Pictures are welcome and encouraged! I'm not too worried about what they'll wear, but I think it would be pretty cool if they fit in with the Hollywood glamour we have going. Basically, I don't want anyone to go out of their way, but if they happen to have a nice fancy dress, I don't want them to feel like it's not a nice enough event to wear it to. I mean, come on.. how many of us have prom dresses we could probably fit into, if need be, that would never occur to us to wear to a wedding?
how's this scene? is it over stylized/glossy? The Vanity Fair Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was one of the most important social events on the New York society calendar. Dubbed the party of the year, the guest list drew an international crowd of fashionistas and Hollywood A-listers. "One more picture Ms. Benner?" "And can we get your super hot boyfriend in it too?" Soon to be ex boyfriend, if he was ever my boyfriend in the first place. She kept that part to herself and sidled up to Abel on the top of the red carpeted steps and struck a paparazzi friendly pose. "Oh man, check out Anna Wintour" Abel observed the Vogue editor decked in a shimmering silver cyber couture Chanel gown modeled after X-Men's Storm, which Selisi thought was cool until the next day when the press and the fashion tabloids had nominated it to be the fashion faux pas of the year. Superheroes: Fashion & Fantasy was the theme of the event and everywhere, guests and décor alike were playing tune to it. Gigantic foam statues of superheroes lined the steps leading to the Met where Stella McCartney mingled with Katie Holmes, who looked a hot mess in a strapless red Giorgio Armani number. Tom Cruise wasn't far off. Inside the Met, dramatic green and blue lighting illuminated the enormous Nathan Crawley statues of Batman and uniformed waiters whizzed around serving exotic sounding cocktails to couture clad glitterati air kissing other couture clad glitterati. Mwah! Mwah! It wasn't for no reason that the gala was known as the Oscars of the East Coast and today, all the superstars had turned the Met into a galaxy of glamour, ready to party the night away, for a good cause obviously. Zoe, Queenie and Emmery had made a grand entrance at the other side of the room, all three dressed in identical hot pink Catwoman suits with matching hot pink heels. "Lisi!" They blew kisses across the room as soon as they spotted her. She waved back unenthusiastically, still pretty peeved at them for abandoning her at The Red Pen Alert! to party with the killers in the VIP room at Bungalow 8. "Ah! Ms. Benner! Bellisimo as always!" It was Giorgio Armani himself, the honorary chairman of the gala. "And you Mr. Rosenberg! Send me a copy of your next cd. I might want to play it at Fashion Week" "Really?! Oh wow! I mean…great! That'd be fantastic!" Abel was stumped. Selisi was stumped too. But for other reasons. How can i make the conversation more smooth flowing?

What do you think of this? Well, I wrote this a while back, and just came upon it today and did a little fixing up. I'm kind of leaning towards scrapping it and starting over, but I wanted second opinions before I did that. I know it's somwhat long by Y!A standards but just read as much as you want and tell me what you thought of what you read. Thank you so much! ------ I had mid terms coming up, the driver's test to study for, PLUS I was supposed be coming up with some cool decorations for the upcoming Winter Solstice dance at school, but instead I was thinking about shoes. But if this story was about a slightly nerdy girl planning a dance, no one would read it, would they? To borrow one of my favorite cliché fairy tale phrases, here's where it all began…. It was the Tuesday before the dance and I was eating lunch with my friends. Don't look so surprised; I know I've described myself as a total friendless dork, but I do have buddies, I swear. We're a group of similarly tall geeky girls, which works just fine for us. I was ranting a little about how there was a shortage of crepe paper in this town, when suddenly my best friend Holly nudged me and whispers, "Rory at 3o'clock." I whipped my head around, not even bothering to be discreet, and saw the most adorable guy ever walking across the cafeteria, tray in hand. Rory Wilmoth wasn't traditionally cute (i.e. girls weren't throwing themselves at his feet. Or acknowledging him in any way, really) but to me he was gorgeous. His skin always seemed to be glowing and was the same color as chocolate, which is NEVER a bad thing. Plus he had the sweetest brown eyes that I'm fairly sure I could get lost in easily. Not that I would ever dare to make eye contact. I'm way to scaredy cat for that. The lack of competition from other girls should make me braver and more emboldened to approach him, but I still had mini panic attacks every time I even thought of saying hi. I'd been crushing on him every since seventh grade when we'd been paired up to dissect a frog. He'd valiantly sacrificed himself to get splattered with frog guts to save my white t-shirt from getting stained. Ever since then, I know we're pretty much soulmates. Even if he doesn't even remember that fateful, earth shaking moment or have any recollection of me whatsoever. We're meant to be, I swear. "He's so cute," I gushed, turning back to my table as he sat down with his soccer buddies. (Major turn on; soccer players are HOT). "I think I love him." "That's a pretty big statement considering the only words you've ever said to him are 'here's the scalpel'," said Brianna, the resident cynic of the group. I stuck my tongue out at her. "For your information, he loves me too, he just doesn't know it," I said, just to be contrary. Then the subject got changed to whether it was possible to cross a horse and zebra, and I stopped thinking about Rory for the time being.
How to make this dress? The first time I saw it I really super insane major crazy wanted this dress and my grandma might make it for me for my school prom. It is the 2009 Oscars, the dress that Miley Cyrus wore. Zuhair Murad sequin ball gown. I LOVE that dress, but since it is a one of a kind dress/ celebrity designer, we were not able to find the dress pattern at a a store. We couldn't find the dress sewing pattern so my grandma could make it. So I had to print lots of pictures at different angles and close ups so that she might be able to make it. But her sister my help her make it. Does anyone know where I can find or if there is a sewing pattern for this dress that I can get so my grandma can make it? It is a pretty simple dress to make, it is just a bunch of sparkle-e petals that are layered onto the skirt of the dress. But she need a sewing dress pattern to know how to measure the pieces right.
