I am doing a school assignment on old hollywood glamour for my fashion design class and cant seem to find fabrics that were used in the 1950's to create dresses and garments that icons like Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe would wear. How do I get the old Hollywood glamour look? In a few months I have cotillion for school which is like this formal thing where we get to wear pretty dresses, eat, dance, etc. The school provides dresses and I'll be picking mine out soon. I really want an Old Hollywood glamour kind of Marilyn Monroe look. I have blonde hair that's a few inches past my shoulders, pale skin, a few light freckles, and dark green eyes. I have my eye on the perfect pair of silver heels, I also have really pretty accessories to go with it (a clutch, necklace, and earrings). I mainly just need hair and make up tips. My hair is blonde but not Marilyn Monroe blonde. It's gotten darker over the years. I know that old hollywood glamour consists of curls and red lips but what else could i do? and i don't know a shade of red that looks right with pale skin and i don't know how to get those curls.

Need fashion advice for a clueless guy - old hollywood style!? My friend is having a birthday party for her 24th and the theme of the party is old hollywood glamour. She wants everyone to dress up to match the theme, but I have NO IDEA what to do. I usually just wear what's on top of my dresser, and now I have to coordinate clothes and dress up nicely?? Old Hollywood Themed Wedding?? I'm helping my best friend plan her wedding. She wants to do an Old Hollywood Glamour theme...So far, we have the groomsmen in Pinstripe with nice Sinatra-esque fedoras. The bridesmaids are in red satin dresses as is the flower girl. one of a kind dress shops on long island, new york? my sweet 16 is august 16th. (ironic i know) and i desperately need a dress. its a 1920's/ old hollywood glamour theme and so i need a dress thats either black, white or red. i hate that typical sweet 16 style dress and i really want something one of a kind. Tips for redecorating my bedroom? I would like to redecorate my bedroom this week while the hubby (A fussy metrosexual with an interior design degree and who has redone the whole house in italian modern) is gone. I figure I should get atleast one room in my style! So that is what I have to work with. What prints, acsessories, misc furniture, etc etc etc could you suggest. How should I accessorize this red vintage gown? My prom is coming up in less than a month. Luckily I have my dress but I am still in a pickle when it comes to accessorizing. Need Help With Bedroom Redecorating!!!? I am 15 years old and really want to redecorate my bedroom. I have a pretty big bedroom but it doesnt get much light. I am on a very limited budget but I am willing to do a lot off making stuff. I need a room that I can sleep in, work in, chill out in, dress in and read in. I really like the idea of having divided areas. My walls are a plain cream but I can't do any painting coz we don't own the house. I want my room to feel cosy and unique. Any ideas for any of these themes would be really appreciated, or even theme ideas that you think I would like. I want my room to feel smaller, coz I feel more comfortable in a small room than a room full of space. I am also very mature for my age so I don't want it to resemble a childs room. Another theme that I like the sound of is a Gypsy theme. My ceiling is also really high so I may have some problems hnaging stuff, although I would like to. What do you think about this dress for a winter high school dance? The theme is Old Hollywood glamour and it is a lot less formal than homecoming. What would I wear on my legs to keep them warm since the dress is so short.... would black tights or leggings look better? As for hair, should I curl my hair and then do a half-up do with a flower? As for makeup, should I keep it pretty neutral with a bold red lip or what?

Which style of wedding dress? I'm trying to decide between two styles of wedding dresses. One is more practical while the other is more fashionable. Dress #1 is a strapless, A-line satin ballgown with a fitted bodice. Dress #2 is a satin sheath dress (slightly flared toward the hem) with a halter top and a low back. Part of me likes Dress #1 because it wouldn't require "creative" shaping undergarments and I could just wear a strapless bra. I wouldn't figet with the dress all day, which is nice. My only problem with Dress #1 is that it reminds me too much of a prom dress. Dress #2 is appealing because it reminds me of "old Hollywood" glamour and would be more form-fitting. I'm hesitant about Dress #2 because it would require double-sided tape or some outrageous bra. Also, I'm sort of self-conscious about my midriff so I would need shapewear underneath. For background, I'm 24, just shy of 5'8" and basically an hourglass shape (proportional hips and, um, chest.) I weigh about 150 pounds.

Please help me with my outfit!? I need help with finding my outfit for our 8th grade culmination ceremony. I was thinking of going with like a retro old hollywood glamour type of look, like a pin-up girl from the 1940's. Do you guys have like any ideas for my outfit, accessories, hair, and/or make-up? The 5 must haves? For women what do you think are the five must have items in her closet? Answer depending on your style. for me (old hollywood glamour style is what i fancy the most) the 5 top must haves are a really great pair of alligator pumps (or faux, depending on your views) and a great matching handbag. a really nice pair of diamond earrings and a really great diamond necklass. and of course a classy little black dress. these are recommended by my favorite fashion designer and his work is brilliant. So, depending on your personal style, what are the must haves for your closet?

I'm stuck between to 2 choices what to wear, 10 points for best answer? Ok, I have won a competition for a free photoshoot and I'm thinking to have a old hollywood glamour feel to it. Now for the photoshoot you need 3 outfits - one nice daytime dress, evening dress and lingerie/bikini (if you prefer , but why not you only live life once). I know what I'm going to wear for the daytime and evening one, I'm having dillemas with the bikini/lingerie , the question is should I go for bikini or lingerie? I have a 1950's style white bikini I can wear which would be really cute or I have a black underbust corset (real steel boned one) which I would wear with matching underwear , stockings and my killer high heels :P. I can't decide which one, I like the idea of both but I think the bikini would be easier since its less hassle to dress and undress

How can I complete this look (for prom)? My prom is tomorrow evening (yes, I realize I'm figuring all of this out rather last-minute). I want my look to be somewhat reminiscent of "Old Hollywood glamour," but without going overboard and looking like I'm wearing a costume. I am planning on wearing a short strand of pearls. I am getting my nails done today (just a manicure, not fake nails) and my hair done tomorrow. I plan on doing my own make-up (nothing too show-y). I think the dress is attention-grabbing enough, so I don't want to have metallic nails, loads of make-up, etc. In terms of the make-up, if it helps to know, I am fair-skinned and have hazel eyes. As for the hair, it is past shoulder length and is naturally wavy (occasionally more curly than wavy). With all of that in mind, my question is this: What would you recommend for this look in terms of nail color, hairstyle, and make-up? I have no idea what would look good with a red dress.

Prom Hairstyles for Black/African American girls? Im going to prom next month Yay! and i need hairstyles... My dress is a strapless coral color with gold sequence along the rim of the breast and a gold sequenced bow around my waist....kinda like old hollywood glamour but more of today style.... Has the glamour disappeared from life? Glamour seems to have ceased to be something to aspire to. I love the appeal of the 1950’s and the idea of dressing up and making an effort. There are photos of them shopping, eating, walking their dogs and jogging. I think this proximity has lessened the mystery surrounding them. There just seems to be less glamour in the world, Hollywood and beyond, and celebrity seems far more attainable. They were so glamorous and there was something about the polished look and the effort it took to maintain it that appealed to me.
