What would you wear to a red carpet movie premiere? My friends cousin plays the main roll in the upcoming star trek movie. He and his studio have guaranteed us tickets to the premiere. This raises the question: what to wear? The premiere is in May so, I have time to shop. For a premire is it gowns, or shorter dresses? What designers would be appropriate for the event? Would a designer dress from saks or neiman marcus be appropriate? As a background for like attire guidlines: I will be almost sixteen durring the event, am 5'9" and 115 pounds.
What does Yahoo mean when it says that, "Celebs are scorching the red carpet at the Academy Awards?" What does it mean to "scorch a carpet?" All I saw was pictures of frumpy women in frumpy clothes. Does Yahoo think that women go online just for the latest pictures of celebrities in designer gowns? Why don't they think women read teh pokliticla coverage or news about Iraq? There seems to be a regualr rotation of three weeks coverage per award show. The first week there is coverage of what was worn last year. The next weeks it's what celebrities plan to wear and then finally it's what they wore. And then it's on to the next award show and what he celebs wore last year. Am I correct to assume that Yahoo is just desperate for cheap content?
Where can I find good images of Anne Hathaway's hairstyles from Princess Diaries 2? I was watching Princess Diaries 2 last night and thought it would be great if I could get good images of her hairstyles, especially the two up-dos she wears for the first ball scene (when she wears the red gown) and the coronation scene at the end. Both would be awesome wedding styles. Any suggestions? I've tried several image searches already but everything I come up with is either a movie poster or is from the red carpet at the movie premiere.

about this prom dress? http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j243/dancerbaby015/0dresses/1945_fe.jpg What do you think of this dress for prom? I know its by Faviana (I copy and saved it last year) but I cant find its website to see the price and such. So I'm thinking of getting it made. About how much do you think it'll cost from a seamstress? What about if I get a family friend to do it? What will the difficulty be? Do you think its way too dressy for prom? My mom says its like a celebrity red carpet kinda gown. But I found it under a prom catagory so that doesnt really make sense.. I think our theme is going to be Red Carpet or Hollywood anyway...so I think itll be fine. Well...whatchu think??? It doesnt have to be exactly like it... jus something along the lines of that. probably not as much beading and jewels. i love it so much! if i do get it made ill get it dressed down alittle so its not SOOO dressy. but every prom dress ive seen is so typical and boringgg. i want to stand out! Yeah I can see how and why its busy. But Ill definately tone it down so it'll be easier to re create and stuff. Probably get rid of the bead work towards the center and that just playin gold fabric. And then as for the back...ahave a low cut..with rhinestone strap design criss crossing. And definately not all those ruffles towards the bottom
I'm having an 'An evening at the Oscars' 21st Birthday Party? I'm having a themed 21st, 'Night At the Oscars', where men will wear black tie and women ball gowns. To make the night more fun and original I am having a red carpet, celebrity cardboard cut outs, lots of decorations and buying mini Oscars off the internet, I have looked online for funny awards, but they all seem to be directed at employees, but I need some awards that can be used for my friends. Have you got any ideas please?? Thanks
My Graduation party is tomorrow and I'm SO NERVOUS! What can I do to calm myself down? My graduation dinner/dance is tomorrow and I'm really nervous for it! Even before the dinner/dance we have to walk on a red carpet in our gowns and with our dates in front of basically the entire town (I live in a small town). Ahhh! I'm a reserved person and I don't ever like to have all of the attention on me. However, tomorrow all of the attention will be on me, when I walk down the red carpet, and I'm terrified! I've already taken a bath and I'm listening to calming music which is helping me a bit...but my mind set is just wrong. I shouldn't be worried, I should be excited! This is a once in a lifetime event and I don't want to be scared! HELP!

I am so bad at writing I need help on this please! I need your advice? THE QUESTION IS........What do you expect from a college education? How will it help you reach your life and career goals?. I want someone to wear my gowns and make everyone’s head turn. I have always been drawn into Fashion Designing because I want to help someone feel good in what they are wearing. I know my talents have to be challenged to grow. Vera Wang is truly an inspiration, to get to that level of prestige and perfectionism is a life goal. Melissa Smart is a new favorite of mine too because she has the same taste I bring into my designs. My second designer I admire is Vera Wang because I want to get to that level of vision and prestige. If I’m accepted into The Art Institute of San Francisco I will not let anyone down. This degree help will work along side more people and it will also help me grow as a person. I have never been surer about anything in all of my life. Just a few months ago I watched an old clip of the Oscars on a website, youtube. When I saw them walk the red carpet I felt in awe. I felt in awe because it’s like watching a masterpiece come to life. Education is priceless and it's a hard thing to come by. I’m interested in this school because I know that this is the right place for me to learn how to become more independent, most importantly I will learn the fundamentals that makes a designer successful. I want to be able to create a couture gown not for fame but because it as always been my dream
Where is the Justice in this? Jailed socialite Paris Hilton has been released from jail after serving three days of her 23-day sentence after falling ill. The evening before she was jailed, Hilton made a surprise appearance at the MTV Movie Awards, where she worked the red carpet in a strapless designer gown. ?????????????????????????????????????

Does anyone know why Ellen Degeneres became gay? It's not that I have a problem with her being gay. It's just that she would have looked prettier being a woman than a lesbian. She's really pretty and I think she would look nicer if she wears a gown instead of a suit on the red carpet. Does anyone know how she became gay? Did she show signs of being gay before comming out?
Fashion Design Advice?? Since I was 5, I have wanted to be a fashion designer. Now, in my late 20s, I'm trying to figure out what I want to do "when I grow up," and this is what I keep coming back to. I can draw clothes with my eyes shut and I can come up with new ideas and designs without ever really trying. At night, I don't count sheep to go to sleep, I dream up new gowns for different actresses and imagine them wearing them down the red carpet. I'm extremely creative, and I know that if I had the opportunity, I'd be successful. The problem is that I can't sew. So basically, I'd like some advice from anyone else who taught themselves how to be a clothes maker. I'm so overwhelmed that I don't know where to begin, and I'm hoping someone here can give me the direction and the proverbial "kick in the ass" that I need to get on with it. Thanks so much :)

What do actors do at a movie premier? I know it might be a silly question, but i always wanted to know. Yes i have herd that they watch the movie or whatever, but is that true? Do the actors really go watch up to 2 hour movies in gowns and suits?!? Also i have read things about actors like Nicole Kidman and Johnny Depp do not like to watch their movies, but they go to the premiers...so do they leave after the red carpet or what?....
POSSIBLY MY LAST GRADUATION BALL!!!, and I do not know what to wear!!!? i'm a university student, in my junior year, BS in Nursing at the best medical school in Asia, University of Sto Tomas. i have cinnamon-y skin. you know, the sun baked southeast asian skin. im 5'1" with an hourglass shape (34.5 26 34.5) and long dark hair which i do not know if id classify as straight or wavy. can you suggest any design and color and cut of a floor length gown or any gown for that matter that evokes red carpet-slash-masquerade party (something that will complement a mask, yes!) and at the same time make me look leaner and taller? plus accessories and shoes and possibly hairstyle that might go with it? i know i sound hilarious but i know some design out there, which you might be capable of thinking of, could possibly fit what im looking for. i belong to an institution where people can afford to look superb and of course i dont want to fall short of the standard. =) i know, i still have more than a year to prepare (and make sure that i graduate) but i dont want to spend the last few months of my senior year worrying about what i should wear at the ball.i want to spend it in finishing all my academic requirements only. i have a picture (face only) that might help you on helping me find what suits me and formulate my total get up. http://www.facebook.com/iris.agcaoili ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU!
In 1970, Jane Fonda Vs. Gloria Steinem, Who Wins? In stand-up hand whompin' up beside the head before rolling upon plush red carpet pulling hair, elbow thrusts to lipstick, & screaming like pansy merchant marine sailors will Hollywood Actress or Feminist Lecturer win 'Tough Thirty-Something Broad Of Celebrities Award' if held in the Embassy of neutral Nation of France? Assume both have had three minutes of formal evening gown seam tearing & roundhouse slaps. Who would reader have cash money on and why?
PROM DRESS IDEAS??? ? I want my prom dress to be very "red-carpet" like. I want a gorgeous long gown, with maybe some beading.. any ideas or pictures? I'll most likely get it made if i cant find any stores that have a dress i like.
What Did You Do For Your Sweet Sixteen? Or What Do You Plan To? This is an odd topic for me. Ever since I was a little girl, I had dreamed of the day that I turned sixteen. I would be dressed in a princess-like gown, rushing down the red-carpeted stairs of some mansion; doves flying all around me and people surrounding the area and clapping at my presence. I would be then ushered away by two incredibly handsome "men" in tuxedos that you would only find in a Calvin Klein add and into a limousine. I would dance the night away at some fancy club and then return home to find a shiny new car sitting in the driveway with a huge red bow on it. Well, as you can probably already tell... it never turned out that way. In fact, if I recall, I stayed at home that night by myself. Oh sorry, I forgot-- a few nights before I saw a small concert with one of my friends (not on my actual birthdate). And that was it. So what about you? Am I the only one that had dreams of partying as the rich and famous, only to sit at home and eat the night away? What did YOU do?
Avant garde wedding dress- can be evening gown...? I need a website that has a good selection of something under $1000, which is making me lean toward a SHARP evening gown in ivory. I love avant garde looks, but not TOO weird, and of good quality. I want something that is very red carpet like, very form fitting, and DIFFERENT. Like beading, designs in the fabric, whatever. Shoot! Those are tooooo plain- no offense. I have found a site or two but they don't have options in a shade of white. I want more evening gown, jaw dropping, Beyonce-like, WOW inducing, sexier gowns...none of that frilly poufy stuff. Have to be mermaid/trumpet style or very form fitting at least to the knees. The bottom can be crazy!
Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of Hollywood stars are losing fashion sense? I'm not saying ALL but a good number. I mean all those outfits they keep on wearing to the red carpet are so ugly and trashy looking. I mean if they have a lot of money they could dress really nice. I know tons of normals people who dress WAY better than them. Like all nice and classy and elegant. I have no idea were they get those outfits but they are horrible. Very disspointing. I did like how Angelina Jolie dressed for the red carpet recently in the nice flowing light orangish or rose gown, kind of... But i think Shu Qi wore a very baeautful and elegant looking gown. But Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the best. Her gown was the most beautiful. But SHe's from Bollywood. Anyways. Am I the only one who feels like this?!

How are you doing with the Roman Polanski "mistake" thing today? Originally published 04:45 a.m., October 1, 2009, updated 08:51 a.m., October 1, 2009 Polanski Case Sparks Noisy Culture Debate Jennifer Harper The crime is more than three decades old, but the battle has just begun. The rekindled legal case of film director Roman Polanski has set off a noisy culture war, pitting Hollywood values against traditional American decency, feminists, international officials and the proverbial long arm of law. "He's a criminal. He is a convicted criminal pedophile," said Terry O'Neill, president of the National Organization for Women. "I'm not in the middle here. How dare Roman Polanski think he could get away with this? I believe he has banked on men - powerful decision makers - who are more intent on protecting rapists than children. This is the world Polanski is exploiting. It's outrageous." The controversy has even reached the White House. Asked by a reporter Wednesday whether President Obama was considering a pardon for the longtime fugitive, press secretary Robert Gibbs said, "I don't know of any pending pardon request." He quickly added, "The president believes pedophiles should be prosecuted." But many in the international creative community have raced to defend one of their own. An army of prominent film artists, European apologists and liberal heavyweights has mustered to defend the Oscar-winning filmmaker, indicted in 1977 in the drugging and rape of a 13-year-old girl and finally arrested in Switzerland on Saturday. Now 76 and a French citizen, Polanski sits in a Swiss jail awaiting extradition to the U.S. as sympathizers cast him in the role of martyr. "We have learned the astonishing news of Roman Polanski's arrest by the Swiss police on September 26th, upon arrival in Zurich, while on his way to a film festival where he was due to receive an award for his career in filmmaking," stated a public petition signed by Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch, John Landis, Debra Winger and 140 other artistic luminaries. "The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance, ... opens the way for actions of which no one can know the effects," the petition said. Outspoken celebrities have been caught up in their own skirmishes as the Polanski case has escalated. Comedian and actress Whoopi Goldberg - who remarked on ABC's "The View" that the incident was not " 'rape' rape" - now has her own critics. "Just for the record, rape is rape. This is one Hollywood star who does not celebrate or defend Roman Polanski. His art did not rape her," countered actress Kirstie Alley in a Twitter message to her fans. A second pro-Polanski petition - this one signed by novelist Salman Rushdie and director Mike Nichols, among many others - demands: "We ask the Swiss courts to free Polanski immediately and not to turn this ingenious filmmaker into a martyr of a politico-legal imbroglio that is unworthy of two democracies like Switzerland and the United States." "We should have been celebrating the arrest of Osama bin Laden and not the arrest of Polanski," actor Peter Fonda said Wednesday. "He is not responsible for killing anyone." Like many of his fellow thespian supporters, Mr. Fonda noted that Polanski's young victim, Samantha Geimer, - now 43 and a mother of three - has asked that the case be dismissed and even attended the recent premiere of a sympathetic documentary about Polanski, posing in a black formal gown for photographers on the red-carpeted walkway. Many of the Hollywood set also point out that Polanski is the "doting father" of two minor children. The French government, which initially expressed outrage over the arrest, has since adopted a more neutral line. "Roman Polanski is neither above nor beneath the law," government spokesman Luc Chatel said at a press conference on Wednesday. "We have a judicial procedure under way, for a serious affair, the rape of a minor, on which the American and Swiss legal systems are doing their job. One can understand the emotion that this belated arrest, more than 30 years after the incident, and the method of the arrest, have caused," Mr. Chatel said. After the 1977 crime, Polanski was charged with giving a controlled substance to a minor, committing a lewd or lascivious act upon a child under 14, unlawful sexual intercourse, rape, perversion and sodomy. He pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse and spent 42 days in jail. Reportedly fearing that the California judge would not honor a plea-bargain deal he had struck with prosecutors over the length of his jail term, Polanski jumped bail, fled the country and settled in Europe before he could be sentenced. The case has remained in judicial limbo ever since. A growing number of critics do not appear ready to forgive Polanski. prom advice...? So it is my senior prom and I want to find the perfect dress. I am 5'8'', size 3, brunette, and I am fairly tan. (If it makes a difference to you my date has blonde hair). The last thing I want to do is look like i am going to the prom, I would rather have an elegant red carpet look. So here are the choices: Option 1: royal blue floor length satin gown, my favorite part of this one is the low back, I would carry a silver clutch Option 2: white halter gown, this one is very free flowing and has a very classic look Option 3: deep purple floor length teired dress, it is strapless
Is J-Lo pregnant? Did anyone see the red carpet pictures? J-Lo was wearing a open flow dress and I couldn't tell if she was hiding her stomach or if it was just the style of the gown.
party help? Masquerade, phantom of the opera theme (sort of)? Super sweet sixteen. I know, it's great! So here's the kicker, what do i do with only $150 for decorations and food, with 150 guests. It's formal and at a reception hall. There is a stage and I will be in a beautiful gown while everyone else is in either black and white or just party dresses. I want a red carpet and i want to have my first slow dance ever with my boyfriend on stage. People are expecting this to be the biggest party of the year in a small town and I'm so struggling for help. Homemade is great. Anything will be considered. Colors: black, white, and red. Need: Decoration ideas! THank you
Reception ONLY and NO Ceremony? I asked this question yesterday but I forgot to add some details so I'll ask again. I am on a very tight budget so to cut cost I was thinking about not having a ceremony to avoid having to decorate the church. I was thinking about just having our pastor have a small ceremony with me and my soon to be husband and our parents in his office. An hour later have a reception for approximately 500 guests (Including children). How does it sound? I will save more than $500. They are charging me $500 to decorate the church but that does NOT include the flowers for bride or wedding party. The church where i'm getting married at is for 2,000 ppl. so I need more than a vase with flowers. The fee for decorating the church is $500, that's the cheapest quote I've gotten from 4 different places. The church has RED carpet throughout the entire building and my colors are brown and orange. If we go ahead with this NO ceremony thing then I wont wear a long, puffy gown just something simple but dressy and bridal looking. And the groom a tux. . I am not required to decorate the church but I think without the decorations it will look plain. My soon to be father in law works for a catering company so we are getting a really really good (cheap) deal. My uncle offered to buy all the drinks. Oh and Im having my reception in the fellowship hall of my church which was only ($500) : ) But the decorations cost $1,500. Well thanks everyone even those who gave rude comments. This was JUST a question. The reason why I thought of this is because not that many ppl go to the ceremony mainly just family. I saw that someone said to have a small ceremony where the reception will be and that's actually what I might do. Ok well like I said 500 includes kids which is half of our guest my family alone has about 15 kids, Thats not including my cousins kids or FH's nephews or family. And I will not go in debt since I'm getting a great deal.

Suggest a Good Wedding Dress/Shoes...? Hi. I am new to the community, and would like everyone's suggestion. I recently got engaged, and just this week we finalized our wedding date, May 21, 2011! I know its over a year away, but I can't wait to start looking for a dress! We are having an outdoor wedding, underneath trees, in the evening (5:00). I really wanted to have a long, elegant, dress with a long train and veil, but I was informed that that type of dress isn't the best for an outdoor wedding where it will be dragging on the ground. My future Mother-In-Law suggested we could have a 'red-carpet' type thing for me to walk down, but that really ruins the look I desire. I also don't want a short dress (I had surgery on my shin, and I have a scar), and I know I'll need to tone down a heel on a shoe. I would love to still have a heel on my shoe however. I am 5'2" and very petite and my Fiance is 6'2" so I would like some 'help' reaching him - Maybe a 3-5" heel >.<. So... tall order - Longer dress (at least to my feet) that doesn't look like a slip gown and shoes that will make me look taller. Thanks in advance! Also, I'll be 24 when I get married, so I don't want a an old woman's dress, but I also don't want the prom-dress look either. (Argh I am so picky!)
how's this scene? is it over stylized/glossy? The Vanity Fair Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was one of the most important social events on the New York society calendar. Dubbed the party of the year, the guest list drew an international crowd of fashionistas and Hollywood A-listers. "One more picture Ms. Benner?" "And can we get your super hot boyfriend in it too?" Soon to be ex boyfriend, if he was ever my boyfriend in the first place. She kept that part to herself and sidled up to Abel on the top of the red carpeted steps and struck a paparazzi friendly pose. "Oh man, check out Anna Wintour" Abel observed the Vogue editor decked in a shimmering silver cyber couture Chanel gown modeled after X-Men's Storm, which Selisi thought was cool until the next day when the press and the fashion tabloids had nominated it to be the fashion faux pas of the year. Superheroes: Fashion & Fantasy was the theme of the event and everywhere, guests and décor alike were playing tune to it. Gigantic foam statues of superheroes lined the steps leading to the Met where Stella McCartney mingled with Katie Holmes, who looked a hot mess in a strapless red Giorgio Armani number. Tom Cruise wasn't far off. Inside the Met, dramatic green and blue lighting illuminated the enormous Nathan Crawley statues of Batman and uniformed waiters whizzed around serving exotic sounding cocktails to couture clad glitterati air kissing other couture clad glitterati. Mwah! Mwah! It wasn't for no reason that the gala was known as the Oscars of the East Coast and today, all the superstars had turned the Met into a galaxy of glamour, ready to party the night away, for a good cause obviously. Zoe, Queenie and Emmery had made a grand entrance at the other side of the room, all three dressed in identical hot pink Catwoman suits with matching hot pink heels. "Lisi!" They blew kisses across the room as soon as they spotted her. She waved back unenthusiastically, still pretty peeved at them for abandoning her at The Red Pen Alert! to party with the killers in the VIP room at Bungalow 8. "Ah! Ms. Benner! Bellisimo as always!" It was Giorgio Armani himself, the honorary chairman of the gala. "And you Mr. Rosenberg! Send me a copy of your next cd. I might want to play it at Fashion Week" "Really?! Oh wow! I mean…great! That'd be fantastic!" Abel was stumped. Selisi was stumped too. But for other reasons. How can i make the conversation more smooth flowing?
im thinking of story ideas but im dead? (help)Princess Tara walked into the parlour looking down at her murdered mother, Queen Grace. She stared down at her red arm with blood dripping down onto to the fresh smelling carpet. She laid down beside her mother holding on to her tight, never wanting to let go. I need help analyzing the poem, "Helen of Hollywood."? it is a poem by Judy Grahn: When she goes to Hollywood she is an angel. She writes in red red lipstick on the window of her body, long for me, oh need me! Parts her lips like a lotus. Opening night she stands, poised on her carpet, luminescent, young men humming all around her. She is flying. Her high heels are wands, her furs electric. Her bracelets flashing. How completely dazzling her complexion, how vibrant her hair and eyes, how brilliant the glow that spreads four full feet around her. She is totally self conscious self contained self centered, caught in the blazing central eye of our attention. We infuse her. Fans, we wave at her like handmaids, unabashedly, we crowd on tiptoe pressed together just to feel the fission of the star that lives on earth, the bright, the angel sun the luminescent glow of someone other than we. Look! Look! She is different. Medium for all our energy as we pour it through her. Vessel of light, Her flesh is like flax, a living fiber. She is the symbol of our dreams and fears and bloody visions, all our metaphors for living in America. Harlowe, Holiday, Monroe Helen When she goes to Hollywood she is the fire for all purposes. Her flesh is like dark wax, a candle. She is from any place or class. "That's the one," we say in instant recognition, because our breath is taken by her beauty, or what we call her beauty. She is glowing from every pore. we adore her. we imitate and rob her adulate envy admire neglect scorn. leave alone invade, fill ourselves with her. we love her, we say and if she isn't careful we may even kill her. Opening night she lands on her carpet, long fingered hands like divining rods bobbing and drawing the strands of our attention, as limousine drivers in blue jackets stand on the hoods of their cars to see the angel, talking Davis, Dietrich, Wood Tyson, Taylor, Gabor Helen, when she goes to Hollywood to be a walking star, to be an actor She is far more that a product of Max Factor, Max Factor didn't make her though the make-up helps us see what we would like to take her for her flesh is like glass, a chandelier a mirror Harlowe, Holiday, Monroe Helen when she went to Hollywood to be an angel And it is she and not we who is different She who marries the crown prince who leads the processional dance, she who sweeps eternally down the steps in her long round gown. A leaping, laughing leading lady, she is our flower. It is she who lies strangled in the bell tower; she who is monumentally drunk and suicidal or locked waiting in the hightower, she who lies sweating with the vicious jungle fever, who leaps from her blue window when he will, if he will, leave her it is she and not we who is the lotus It is she with the lilies in her hair and a keyboard beside her, the dark flesh glowing She whose wet lips nearly swallow the microphone, whose whiskey voice is precise and sultry and overwhelming, she who is princess and harlequin, athlete and moll and whore and lady, goddess of the silver screen the only original American queen and Helen when she was an angel when she went to Hollywood
