Oscar Dresses

Help with Oscar de la Renta dress?

I am having trouble deciding between a vintage c. 1962 Givenchy gown and my Oscar de la Renta. Both are beautiful, but I don't know if the OLR is too casual. Which sounds more impressive going by the description ALONE? I am not going to bother with pics. I just want to know what SOUNDS better. Spank you very much!
